About APEN
APEN is a collaborative partnership staffed by the Children's Trust Fund. This partnership was
established in 1996 to promote the concept of parenting education.  We do this at three levels:
  • We promote parenting education as a means of empowering parents and caregivers to
effectively interact with their children.  This reduces the likelihood of child maltreatment,
as well as improves developmental outcomes, social behavior and academic
    performance.

  • We provide specific training opportunities for parenting and parent educators in the form
of conferences, skills training and curriculum training, as well as a variety of networking
    opportunities.

  • We support a statewide network of programs that offer parent education and other forms
    of family support.
Our membership includes:
  • early childhood professionals
  • home visitors
  • school-based personnel
  • counselors and caseworkers
  • healthcare professionals
  • judiciary and diversion program staff
  • other program and service providers
  • parents and other caregivers
